Haemostatic Temporary Surgical Dressing
TRICOL BIOMEDICAL’s HemCon products are made from chitosan, a naturally occurring polysaccharide. Chitosan is positively charged, attracting negatively charged red blood cells and platelets. This ionic interaction creates a supportive, primary seal at the wound site, controlling all degrees of bleeding, independently of the natural clotting cascade. This mechanism creates an effective seal, even in patients on anticoagulation therapy, while also providing antibacterial barrier properties against a wide variety of organisms.

The HemCon GuardaCare XR Surgical is a chitosan impregnated, x-ray detectable surgical haemostat ideally suited for temporary control of minor to severe bleeding of surgical wounds and traumatic injuries, including during Cardio-thoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Neuro & Spine surgery, OBGYN Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Transplants, Trauma, Vascular Surgery, etc
Chitosan is a naturally occurring, biocompatible polysaccharide. The haemostatic properties of chitosan enhance the ability of the medical gauze to control bleeding. This rapid bleeding control can result in reduced need for cauterization and a much clearer surgical field visibility.
Safe: No human or bovine thrombin; works independently of the clotting cascade; contains theradio-opaque element to easily retrieve all dressings to avoid adverse surgical incidents; double pouched for aseptic surgical field transfer.
